Mr Ed's Restaurant-Kenner: Reviews & Ratings
The food was amazing. Our waiter Trey was very helpful and really nice. He even told us where to go to get the best King Cake and Daquiris. I will definitely be back here when I come back to NOLA!!
Ordered the onion rings and eggplant appetizers, both were good. The pork chops and cabbage was good, as was the fried shrimp and sweet potato fries, crab cake & pasta and the white beans and rice with sausage.
We loved Mr. Ed's! We enjoyed eggplant parm, chicken picatta, meat balls, and a po boy. Everything was excellent and we enjoyed great service too.
I’ve been to Mr Ed’s for lunch several times over the past few years and always had a good meal, but THIS meal and experience took my appreciation of this local chain to a whole new level. We visited the West Esplanade location (the original restaurant, we were told) for dinner. Hungry for some authentic Cajun food, this certainly did not disappoint. The space is clean and decorated. Four-top tables are spread throughout the dining area. There was a bar area. Ronald was our waiter and he would be worth the visit, even if the food wasn’t over the top, like it is. Ronald is engaging and informative, suggesting dishes that did not disappoint. We started with the crawfish spinach bread on brioche bread {{insert angelic voices}} don’t miss this, if it’s available. Next a cup of fresh turtle soup with a splash of sherry. Dark and rich - this compares to the best restaurants in NO - and would probably win. For $7 a cup, this would be priced much higher just across town. Ronald had highly recommended the house made blue cheese dressing on our salads. I am not a blue cheese fan - but decided to listen to his recommendation and WOW! That dressing was over the top amazing! We ordered the local trout meunière which was HUGE and fantastic taste. Our other dish was grilled shrimp with new potatoes and broccoli. Oh how I wish we would have had room to try their desserts but we were too stuffed. Don’t miss this local jewel. Amazing food and service. If you’re craving a poboy, I do happen to know from previous visits that their shrimp poboy is the best in the city!
Best chicken liver I’ve ever eaten. Husband had stuffed bell peppers and really liked them too. Prices were super reasonable.
I’ve been to a few Mr Ed’s around the city including the former Midcity one (that closed), the former W Esplanade and Clearview, and one in Fat City. It’s not as good as the other restaurants, but still very enjoyable. The fries are okay, 3.5 star (so mildly better than average). Onion rings are 4 star, very good. The bread pudding? A bit too soft and a flavor was average, maybe 3 star so very mildly better than average (2.5). The catfish, 5 star. Fresh, solid breading. The oysters? 4 star so solid for October. The tartar sauce, 3 star, which is like with the fries and bread pudding. I will need to try their fried chicken here and fried eggplant next year. I drive by a lot but never eat at the establishment. Overall, very good and better than a 4 star.
Great place to have turtle soup and Hugh soft shell crab. Great atmosphere with multiple TVs to watch sports. Friendly staff and plenty of seating. Large parking lot and large dining aera to handle group of 7+ Love how none of the food was salty but rather it's perfectly seasoned. This place makes all of its dressing for thier salads. Two thumbs
We had a good experience. We started with crawfish spinach bread. This was excellent with crispy toasted bread and lots of cheese. Our side salads were fine, a typical green salad. My restaurant pet peeve is getting my main dish before I'm finished my salad. I'm this case, I received my salad, added dressing cut a few large leaves, and then my dinner arrived. I got the seafood stuffed bell pepper. It was exactly as advertised. My wife got the veal Pontchartrain. The veal was perfect. I tried her new potatoes and one was under cooked but that was not typical, still very tasty. We have been here many times and will be back
